ABOUT

I’ve always been curious about why people do things the way they do.

My path into UX started with a background in Anthropology and an interest in understanding people, behavior, and the systems around them.

That perspective eventually led me to UX, where I found a practical way to turn curiosity about people into better products. Today, I work across research, usability, and design strategy to understand complex workflows, uncover what is getting in the user's way, and help teams decide what to do next.

Much of my experience has been in healthcare technology, where understanding context matters. A workflow that looks straightforward on a screen can be very different when you see how it fits into someone's actual day.

FROM ANTHROPOLOGY TO UX

Context changes how you understand a problem.

Anthropology taught me to look beyond what people say and pay attention to context, behavior, environment, and the systems around them.

That perspective has stayed with me throughout my UX career. When I investigate a product problem, I want to understand more than what is happening on the screen. I want to understand the workflow around it, what the person is trying to accomplish, and what may be influencing their decisions.

HOW I APPROACH THE WORK

I don't stop at identifying the problem.

Research is most valuable to me when it helps a team make a better decision.

Sometimes that means conducting a research study. Other times it means investigating a workflow, mapping what is happening, challenging an assumption, or working alongside Product and Engineering to find a practical solution.

I've learned that good UX is not about using the most research methods or producing the most artifacts. It is about knowing what you need to learn, how deeply you need to investigate, and what will help the team move forward.

01

UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT

What is the user actually trying to accomplish?

02

FIND THE REAL PROBLEM

What is creating the friction, and is the request addressing the underlying issue?

03

MATCH THE METHOD

What level of research or investigation does this problem actually require?

04

HELP THE TEAM DECIDE

Translate what I learn into practical product direction.

04

WHAT I BRING

Comfortable moving between research, strategy, and design.

UX RESEARCH

Understanding behavior, needs, workflows, and usability problems.

WORKFLOW ANALYSIS

Looking beyond individual screens to understand how work actually happens.

DESIGN STRATEGY

Turning research and UX judgment into direction teams can act on.

USABILITY CONSULTING

Providing appropriately scoped UX guidance based on the complexity and risk of the problem.

CROSS FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

Working with Product, Engineering, Clinical Risk, and other partners to balance user needs with real constraints.

MENTORSHIP

Helping less experienced UX practitioners think through complicated research and usability problems.

05

BEYOND THE WORK

I believe good UX grows through community, too.

Mentorship and community involvement are part of how I continue sharpening my practice. They give me space to exchange ideas, support others, and continue mentoring less experienced UX practitioners as they work through real research and usability questions.

Mentorship

I have mentored less experienced UX practitioners as they worked through research, usability, and product questions.

UX community

I have also contributed time to UX community and volunteer work, which keeps me connected to how other practitioners learn and grow.
